With a few days of rain over Christmas and an enjoyable rest, I welcomed the first rain free day for what seemed like ages by getting out and about.
With my gear to hand, I decided to head up to Caister-on-Sea to get rid of that cabin fever feeling.
I returned to the same location as the summer evening shoot with the photography club. The first surprise was how mild the temperature was for end of December. No gloves, scarf or hat needed and I could’ve gone coat free too, but I’m not that wild!
Upon climbing the bank from the car park, I was met with a wonderful view of the sand dunes nicely lit by some afternoon sun with the sea and wind turbines in the background. I think this first shot turned out to be my favourite of the day with the two people walking along the shoreline adding to the sense of scale.
I wandered onto the beach and took some more shots including quite a few of the wind turbines for which I think I may be somewhat obsessed. There was nothing amazing about the shots and the misty haze on the horizon, the falling light, and the limitations of the focal lengths on offer from what I’d packed meant I couldn’t get the shot I was after.
I was so pleased though as the sunset colours were surprising good and I grabbed a couple of shots as I ended the trip. Although a pleasant enough shot, I realise I do need to try something different in my compositions, maybe get some shots lower down or closer in.
Onwards and upwards…
