Happisburgh was the chosen location for a sunrise shoot meeting at 07:00.
On the morning in question, this changed to Cart Gap due to there being nowhere to park outside the gate of Happisburgh car park.
It was -2 and near Happisburgh the side roads were quite slippery so care was needed to be sensible and get to the location in one piece.
The Shoot
We wandered down the slope from the car park to find the tide higher than we thought it would be.
This meant walking back to the car park and walking down via the path from the middle of the car park.
We were soon on the beach and a quick scout around told us that any morning sunlight would be the Cart Gap end.
We strolled down that way and navigated ourselves to our preferred spots.
I decided to concentrate on one spot photographing a groyne with unusually large posts.
I must have taken over a hundred shots trying to capture one with the right waves and patterns I was after, and out of 140 shots, the one below made it to a shortlist of two!
The capture which my wife likes best is the one below which I’ve posted up online as I do agree the reflections of the post works better.
The decision to stay in one spot isn’t something new or different to me.
I often do that and on occasion it has brought me a top quality shot.
The only disadvantage to staying in one spot is that you come home with less ‘different’ images or you may miss another great composition by not moving around. You have to make the decision ‘in the field’ which strategy you will deploy.
While I was looking through my wider shortlisted images, something caught me eye in the foreground of one of these shots, which was patterns in the sand.
Below is a majorly cropped scene to focus in on the patterns.
I used an AI title generator to name the above image!
I am pleased that I’ve managed to spot something rather creative within an image. This is something I should do more of… look for an image within an image.
With the morning light now very bright, the usual ritual ensued.
We wandered back to our cars, poured a coffee and had a debrief.
I ended up at the Golden Arches as if my nose for bacon and egg was some kind of human satnav.
Onwards and upwards…
