The March club shoot was at Overstrand, which many of us haven’t been to for a little while.

We were wondering what may be fenced off as there has been quite a lot of cliff fall in recent months.

A meet time of 05:30 meant a rise and shine time of 04:30 and a longing for the clocks to change soon.

The Shoot

We wandered down the slope to find open access to the immediate area, but we could see to the right further up the promenade a fenced off area.

Following my desire to find something different, I went looking for a new composition.

The morning was quite flat and we knew from the forecast we were unlikely to see the sun.

I thought I would take advantages of the stones along the shoreline while the tide was coming in.

Something Different Non?

I thought I’d once again dream of producing something Mark Cornick-esque, the fool that I am…

It’s alright

It was time to shift my carcass and I spotted this line of stones, and tried to be a Clever Trevor and all arty farty. More “Tim Nice But Dim” I think!

It’s awful, but I saw something, I think…!

Next up, I tried a shot from this corner of the lower concrete steps.

Hmm… not really

I climbed up from the beach to the shingle path near the cliffs and again, thought there might be some mileage in the following image.

Not really, again!

I met up with two other photographers and after a brief chat, I copied one of them doing ICMs of the wooden posts.

ICM – too much shingle

A wider capture was taken which I think works well in monochrome.

Overlap flaw?

It was time to get the drone up.

I haven’t flown the drone for quite some time. Mainly because the weather over the last few weeks has been unfavourable.

I needed to fly as I would be revisiting Iceland again soon, and didn’t want to go there being rusty.

Up went the drone, and I grabbed this shot looking down the coastline.

Overstrand beach from the air (3 shot bracket)

There was one final shot, the usual stereotyped capture of the beach and waves.

Overstrand beach – The Dove From Above

That was a wrap.

We ascended up the slope for coffees and a debrief.

It has been a good morning stretching ourselves with little to celebrate from the drab conditions, but working it was satisfying.

My anti-Ronald magnets were activated as I made my way home and back to bed for Zzzzz’s.

Onwards and upwards…
