The seventh, eighth and ninth best shots of 2021 (Instagram) are shown below.
Loughrigg Fell, Lake District
My seventh most liked shot was from my Loughrigg Fell dawn shoot with pro photographer Chris Sale. There’s a dedicated blog post here so I won’t repeat.
It’s not a surprise this has to be one of my best shots of 2021 if not the best one. Not only the view and the experience and thrill of going on a shoot with a pro but to have the morning light and a rainbow in view was amazing, and to get Chris’ advice and guidance on composition, focusing and getting the scene sharp led to an amazing morning.
I entered this shot in the club’s POTY competition and the judge gave it a 9/10. There’s a blog post about that here.
Norwich Cathedral from Jarrold Bridge
The eighth most liked shot was of Norwich cathedral from the Jarrold bridge. Once again, I have NDPS club to thank as this shot was taken on an evening meet up.
We were supposed to be doing a walk about at the Riverside area of Norwich but there was a Norwich City FC game that night so we switched to walking along the Fishergate area.
We wandered around taking images of the river and the colourful properties with the cathedral visible over the rooftops. There were also some model T Rex dinosaurs dotted around as part of a Dino trail and Dippy (the dinosaur) visit to Norwich cathedral.
As the evening came to a close, while some members looked for a suitable place to enjoy a refreshment, without a mask on my person I declined and decided to walk back to the car park with a fellow member.
We took some more shots and as we got back to the car park, decided on the spur of the moment to take a shot of the Jarrold bridge with the cathedral in the background. Given the shot that I got from that end of the evening moment, I’m so pleased we did that!
I’m really pleased with the image, the way the light casts across the floor of the bridge and the star burst from the light.
Edit: I entered this image in the club’s POTY (Photographer of the Year) competition round 3 in February 2022. It won the themed image round in my league that evening, with the RPS-level judge scoring it a 10/10.
Blakeney at Sunset
The ninth and final most liked image was of a moored boat and it’s reflection at Blakeney on the North Norfolk coast.
I knew I couldn’t make the upcoming club trip to this location so decided to visit one evening after work. I called my daughter Chloe to see if she fancied a trip out and we headed out into the warm summer evening.
We had fun walking around the Blakeney harbour, and with the golden hour approaching, I got so some nice shots while Chloe took her footwear off and enjoyed walking around in the mud!
While a perfect sea lavender boat shot eluded me, I did get some good boat shots with the best one reflecting well in the water.
A lovely evening, and a great chance for some quality time with Chloe.
Onwards and upwards…
