Kathryn and I decided a coastal walk was in order so we chose Cromer for a Christmas Eve walkabout.
Photography-wise, this would be a snapshot walk, handheld camera shots only (no tripod).
We managed to park on the road near the clifftop and made our way to the top of the main slope.
I liked the view of the church towering above the amusement arcades and rooftops.
There was a surprisingly appealing sky and if you visit Cromer, you must grab a shot of the pier.
We took the steps down to the promenade and observed for the first time the new sea defence rocks that had been installed this year.
I fired off a few shots and then using the promenade as a support, went for a slow shutter speed to see if I could catch movement in the incoming waves.
I am pleased with the image I captured and possibly my best of the visit.
Kathryn had walked ahead an onto the pier so I grabbed this shot of the promenade with hut and then made my way to the pier.
As I walked onto the pier, I grabbed a shot of the benches and lamps as they had just come on with about 15 minutes to sunset.
Some kids were throwing chips down at one side of the pier driving a group of seagulls into a frenzy so I quickly changed settings on my camera and tried to capture the melee.
When on Cromer Pier, I always seem to come away with a capture of this hut.
Once I had snapped this, I went to the other side of the pier to capture the water splashing at the metallic sea defences on the shore.
As we made our way up the nearest slope to the town, we walked passed Cromer church which had some Christmassy lights on so I had to capture it.
That was my last capture as it was well into blue hour and, just like the seagulls, we had chips on our mind so headed to Mary Jane’s chip shop.
And that was a wrap, and soon to be not wrapped, but ‘open’ chips.
Chippy Chips! 😋
There always seems to be promos for “No. 1” chippy which we’ve tried a couple of times but I have been to Mary Jane’s for many a year and for me, they are the best.
Back at the car, a cup of tea from the flask was poured and we agreed it had been an enjoyable walkabout.
Considering this visit was something of a last minute decision, and a walkabout, I was very pleased with the images I collected.
Onwards and upwards…
