A small group of photographers met at Hopton-on-Sea for a sunrise shoot.

The tide was forecast as mid-high and as we’ve witnessed before, at Hopton, the tide can be a bit different to what you may be expecting.

We went down the staircase to find the tide quite a way in.

A quick walk along the beach for a reccé and dodging the incoming waves was completed.

One fellow photographer decided to stay put on the small bit of the beach while I joined the other two going back up the staircase and along the top of the cliff.

The other two were going to head down to the beach at the end of the slope, and by now the sky was developing some lovely colours and the sunrise emerging fast.

I was desperate to push myself for something different, so decided to backtrack along the cliff.

This thought didn’t get me very far to start with, as I took a shot from a place I’ve captured images before.

My first image

I decided to return to the beach where we had left one of our fellow photographers on arrival.

But before I got there, I decided to hop over the fence and found a composition which ticked the ”something different” box.

Something Different

That shot was probably my best of the morning.

I then did go to the beach and shot a classic seascape – there’s nothing special about it but I quite like the cloud cover.

Nice sky

The morning light was up in the sky now and the photographer already on the beach suggested a long lens shot might be good capturing the ship on the horizon as it passes under the sunlight.

I set up and had to lay backwards on the beach to get the shot below.

Shot while laying on my back!

My final show of the morning in shown below, which was a seascape capturing the amazing clouds we had on that morning.

Mind the Gap

That was a wrap.

We walked back to the car where coffees and a debrief was in order.

With my current resistance to Ronald’s tempting produce, I got home, had a nap, and then arose to make myself a homemade bacon sandwich.

Once again, Hopton had delivered.

Onwards and upwards…
