My second sunrise shoot the weekend after the first one with club members meeting at How Hill on the Norfolk Broads. Meeting again at 05:45, a short walk down to the broad led to us lining up to ready ourselves for shooting Turf Fen drainage mill. Once again, the sunrise wasn’t amazing but occasionally the sun lit up the top of the mill, and if your timing was right you could capture the mill in warm tones.
I did quite a few shots in portrait mode with different shutter speeds and use of various ND filters. I also got the polariser out as I thought with the 24-70mm lens on, there’d be little risk of colour banding the sky and more likely some richer colours. A couple of alternate shots of the same mill (a few in landscape orientation this time and a little further down river) and in no time, the sun was up and the light far too bright to shoot anymore.
Some members went back towards the car park and took a long range shot of the broad from higher up but I couldn’t see anything worth opening up the bag again. Although there’s nothing enjoyable about peeling out of bed at a time I rarely have my eyes open, I have enjoyed the trips. Plus a bacon roll and coffee, and climbing back into bed for a snooze before enjoying reviewing and editing my best shots is reward enough.
