NDPS members met at 06:00 at Lynford Stag, part of Thetford forest in Norfolk.
We wandered over the road from the car park and into the forest with plenty of time to wander around before sunrise.
It’s a lovely location with a vast area of woodland but we mostly confined ourselves to the area never too far from the road. Wandering around, with the occasional chat with a fellow club member I bumped in to, I realised it’s not just me who struggles with composition in an area that can be very cluttered.
The shot below won third place in the November monthly competition with NDPS under the theme of Autumn Colours. I didn’t particularly think the shot was anything special but my wife persuaded me to put it in.
Fellow member and judge for this month commented… “I enjoy the composition, with the distinctive small tree centrally placed. Reminds me of the sort of image that another inspirational photographer who regular posts on social media would capture.”
I grabbed a few images where I could looking in particular looking for scenes where the morning sun was directing light rays onto the trees. This light came and went very quickly on several occasions.
The shot below was a pleasing shot because of how the sun rays warmed the colour tones of the scene.
My final shot was thanks to fellow member David who had spotted an interesting tree in the distance but neither of us could be bothered. We had reached the end of our shoot. It’s quite common that after a few hours of photography, there comes a point when you’ve just done, finished, not too fussed about doing any more. I decided to get my camera out once more and did a long range zoom on the tree David had spotted and the result was quite a nice image.
Onwards and upwards…
