A late Sunday trip out to get some fresh air took us only a few miles away to Horstead and Coltishall.

With my wife’s walking guidebook and me trying out the Komoot app, we both had the same route to hand.

To start, we walked from Horstead to the Mill along the riverside with the warm glow of the pre golden hour sunlight beaming through the trees.

The soft late afternoon sunlight meant there were some amazing riverside shots with reflections.

Amazing reflections in the river

I got a couple of nice shots of the bridge that separates the road going through Horstead and Coltishall.

Leading line and the bridge – wide angle would’ve been handy!

Next, we crossed over the bridge towards the riverside path on the Coltishall side. More amazing shots followed…

A more detailed sky would improve this shot

Continuing our walk along the riverside path, I got some shots with a sunburst which always add that little bit extra to scenes.

I also liked the shot of a riverside hut below.

The hut makes for a more interesting scene

As we made our way back alongside a field heading back, there were some good tree shots as well as some silhouette shots as the light started to fade.

There were photo opps at every part of this walk!

A final shot as the end of the path was in our sights was this this one of the telegraph pole.

As we got back to the car, the light had gone and it was getting dark, and the tea flask called, and I couldn’t believe what a great walk and set of photos I’d got given that this was a last minute choice.

These moments are special and embody the concept of simple pleasures: A lovely walk, fresh air, beautiful scenes, some good photo opportunities, a sense of squeezing every last minute of relaxation from the weekend, and a nice cup of tea to complete the trip.

Onwards and upwards…
