While not being a ‘morning’ person, I got myself out of bed for my first ever sunrise shoot with the club I’ve recently joined (NDPS). We met at Happisburgh beach at 05:45 (ouch). With the tide out, I wandered far up the beach and stopped as I reached what I thought were standard groynes and turned back to concentrate on something different.

I had a really enjoyable morning doing a range of slow exposure shots of the sea hitting and retreating from various sea defence structures. There are many different structures in the sand and lots of opportunities for different shots. Thanks to low lying clouds, the sunrise didn’t really offer anything amazing, but I am pleased with the results I achieved.

Not for the first time, I got home and later on realised I’d lost something. On this occasion, it was financially bearable as it was the anchor plate for my Peak Design strap along with some clips and Allen keys. I went to this shoot with my 24-70mm lens which served me well.
