I met another photographer for sunset at Southwold.

Under the banner of forcing ourselves to try new ideas, we had been talking about using objects in our scenes.

My friend had brought a deckchair along so we quickly went to work positioning it just such that an incoming wave would splash over the legs.

Interestingly, since I’ve shown my wife the images I took with my camera, she asked why I didn’t shoot the above scene with my camera. I had nothing to say…

I think with hindsight, I got so carried away just shooting the deckchair, I didn’t think about the scene or ‘story’ I wanted to convey. 🫣

My first shot simply aimed to capture the chair, suitably textured movement in the water and a wave in the background.

I carried on shooting the chair…

Both of these shot at 0.6s

I had a brief pause and took a shot with my infrared camera of the huts behind where I was standing.

We decided to shoot the post out to sea and I was trying to get an image with an incoming wave.

It’s alright…

We wandered up to the usual ‘standard’ position on the promenade and I took a shot of the pier.

Nought special!

That was about it.

We decided to walk up to the lighthouse to see what it looked like and had a 0% beer in the pub before wandering back to the car park.

We grabbed a final shot from the same promenade position.

Night time shot: 10s

And that was a wrap.

It had been a fun evening out but no bangers fell into the bag on this occasion.

Onwards and upwards…
