Cart Gap is right next door to Happisburgh and was the chosen location for a sunrise shoot for myself and fellow photographers.
I last shot here in December 2023 (see blog post here) and had a real treat in terms of an epic sunrise.
An image from that previous shoot would be submitted into the free choice round of a club POTY competition (see blog post here).
The shoot
We parked at the usual car park which gave us a short walk down the concrete slope to the beach.
Unlike the last visit, we veered left not right and wandered up for a scout around.
We all chose to take shots involving groynes and I gravitated to a metallic sea defence and tried to capture some swooshery in the waves.
My first show is below.

A more pleasing scene became available as the sunrise started to occur.

This next one was my wife Kathryn’ favourite, as she likes the sunlight glistening on the water.

I did some similar shots in portrait orientation to see if that would create a more dramatic foreground.

Drone shots
It was time to send the drone up to see what I could capture.

I quite liked this next shot with more emphasis on the groynes.

Macro shots
The sun had risen high enough for the light to be harsh so we started to pack up.
I got my macro lens out and shot a few images of the rusty groynes and seaweed.

And that was a wrap!
It was a very pleasant and relaxing morning.
Below is a montage of my favourite shots from the shoot.

We wandered back to the car park, had a coffee and debrief and left for home.
On the way home, Ronald got me once again for one of his McMuffins which I ate as if I’d been starving for weeks.
Until next time.
Onwards and upwards…
