Gunton (aka Corton) near Lowestoft was the chosen location this week.

We’ve had two previous trips in October and December in 2023, and was looking for something different on this visit.

It took a while this week to gather ideas and pick somewhere, but we got there in the end.

Meet time was 05:45 so I set my alarm for a strategic 04:47! Just enough time to make my flask, produce toast to go and get on the road.

I decided to skip the usual swooshery with the groynes and have a closer look at the remains of an old sea wall and pillbox. Or at least, I think that’s what it is.

My first shot is below:

Not sure about the composition with this one

I moved to the left of this position and zoned in on the concrete remains with the windows.

I’ve removed some distracting groyne posts to the left of this structure, and I’ve also stretched the perspective of the image to emphasise the structure.

Concrete Remains

I quite like the final image.

I moved back from my position to get a wider view.

A wider view and in mono

I was enjoying photographing something different.

Moving further back, I took this shot below of the metallic structures.

It’s alright

I tried a different angle but it’s nothing special.

Nice textures in the rocks and metallic structures

Of course, I had to grab a swooshery shot, so turned around and grabbed this shot below.

Check out the textured in the metal, and that sky!

Turning around again, and I enjoyed capturing this shot of the larger concrete wall remains along with more swoosh.

This wall adds some drama

I walked away from the concrete remains and saw some rocks with sea water splashing over them so set up here, and took a few shots.

Not bad at all

Drone shots

It looked like the guys had finished so I met up with them and decided to launch the drone.

I did a shot looking dow at the beach, waves and groyne (it must be done every time)!

The obligatory downward sea shot

And there’s the following shot looking along the shoreline with the most easterly point and Lowestoft in the background.

Gunton, or Corton if you prefer

That was a wrap!

After landing the drone, we headed back to the car for the usual coffee and debrief.

We agreed that this location is worth repeat visits as there’s always something different to photograph.

I was a willing donator to Ronald’s Golden Arches empire on my way back home.

Selecting tea to accompany my double bacon McMuffin meal since I had guzzled my whole flask of coffee, and I knew I’d want a nap on my return home.

Onwards and upwards…
